Dr. Jeanette Robertson, Associate Professor currently serves as the Chair of the School of Social Work and Human Service at Thompson Rivers University. Her scholarly engagement has been supported through research grants as co-investigator and principal investigator through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Metropolis BC, and internal university grants. She has been engaged in research related to social work field education, disability studies, and immigrant settlement experiences in smaller and rural cities. This scholarship has been devoted to exploring the lived experience of people in relation to social inclusion/exclusion in higher education and healthcare. Her doctoral research consisted of a national Canadian study that investigated the experience and approach of field education coordinators in addressing student professional suitability concerns.

Her experience in the disability field extends to roles of community educator, social work practitioner, program coordinator, Community Living BC Council member, and rehabilitation worker in both the voluntary and governmental sector in Alberta and British Columbia (residential settings, day programs, children's respite services, and community living services).
