Natural landscapes are outdoor environments endowed with meanings and values derived from an individual's experiences in relation to them. The value of these landscapes can be entirely personal or can reach beyond the individual and become part of the collective experience of a community. Through protection or limits being placed on natural landscape activities, both personal and transcendent values of natural landscapes often become focal points of conservation efforts. The purpose of this research was to identify and characterize existing natural landscapes in the Kamloops area and determine how these values have influenced conservation perspectives within the community.
