The British Columbia Kootenay Indians inhabit a high elevated plateau lying in the south-east corner of the Province. On eht west this territory is bounded by the Selkirk Range and on the east by the Rocky Mountains. This area includes Kootenay Lake, Kootenay River, and extends north to encompass the Lower and Upper Columbia Lakes.
