This site is dedicated to preserving the memory and celebrating the spirit of Adam Waske, an exemplary student from 100 Mile House who was taken from us much too early in life. Near this site, on the morning of June 22, 1994, while working with fellow students in the Heavy Duty Mechanical Trade program, Adam Waske's life was taken as the result of the failure of equipment that was being used during his training program. This tragic event, and the extensive follow-up investigations into why it took place, serve as a daily reminder to every student, faculty and staff member at UCC that safety must be our greatest concern at all times. This memorial wall has been established to remember Adam Waske, and the lessons that this event brought home to us all, and also to celebrate the spirit of living and achievement for which Adam is remembered always by his family, friends, and instructors. On this wall, we also recognize the UCC students selected each year as the winners of the Lieutenant Governor's and Governor General's medals as their efforts embody Adam Waske's values of learning and achievement to which this memorial is dedicated.
