Introduction:
You are a part of a collegewide effort to increase access to education and empower students
through "open pedagogy." Open pedagogy is a "free access" educational practice that places you
- the student - at the center of your own learning process in a more engaging, collaborative
learning environment. The ultimate purpose of this effort is to achieve greater social justice in
our community in which the work can be freely shared with the broader community. This is a
renewable assignment that is designed to enable you to become an agent of change in your
community through the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs). For this work, you will integrate the disciplines of Anthropology and Geography to
achieve SDG #3: Good Health and Well-Being. With a focus on Targets 3.5: Strengthen the
prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful use of
alcohol; 3.5.1: Coverage of treatment interventions (pharmacological, psychosocial and
rehabilitation and aftercare services) for substance use disorders; 3.5.2: Harmful use of alcohol,
defined according to the national context as alcohol per capita consumption (aged 15 years and
older) within a calendar year in litres of pure alcohol.

Purpose/Rationale:
This active learning practice is designed to improve your academic skills (learn research, attend a
conference, create an Infographic), increase community connections, be aware of the harms and
good of psychedelics, learn cultural awareness, an avoid ethnocentrism.

Instructions:
I hope you are all as excited as I am for this assignment.
As you create your Infographic about your specific psychedelic, please read this article and watch
the videos so they can give you a better sense of how to do the best work for this assignment.
Steps for your infographic:
Read the above article.
Choose only ONE infographic platform Canva, Infogr.am, Easelly, Piktochart, and Visme. If you
have another platform in mind please use wherever you are most comfortable with.
Mention the specific Psychedelic you did research on.
Give an overview definition of the Psychedelic
Tell the history of the psychedelic: what religion/ culture is associate it with (it could be multiple),
how it is used religiously, the oldest records on it etc.
How can the Psychedelic connect to the bellow subgoals of UNSDG #3:

spiritually vs. recreational vs. pharmaceutic companies (western)
