Introduction:
Welcome to your role in an international mission. This mission is dedicated to expanding

Under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, this renewable
assignment paves your path to becoming an agent of change within your community. Prepare to
embark on this transformative journey.
For this work, we will integrate the disciplines of Sociology, ESL, and (ELAP) - English
Language for Academic Purposes to respond to SDG #2: Zero Hunger. Within this SDG, we will
focus on the specific target 2.4.

Purpose:
This classroom-based project is designed to provide you with a primary research opportunity that
is community oriented and based on participatory action research.

Learning Objectives:
Students will contribute to a classroom data set by uploading and sharing their field notes from
Assignment 1 to conduct a preliminary analysis by noting common data themes, patterns, and
differences.

Instructions:
Goal: Collect and analyze qualitative data using a classroom build data set (See Assignment #1).
Objective: Students will contribute to a classroom data set by uploading and sharing their
fieldnotes from Assignment 1 to conduct a preliminary analysis by noting common themes,
patterns, and differences.
Instructions: Now that you have taken field notes, prep these field notes to submit to the
classroom data set for analysis.
The first step will be to ensure your field notes have no identifying information (such as using
specific names, addresses, etc.). Submit this revision of your field notes to the instructor so that
they may create a data set into one easily accessible file.
Once the data set is ready, students will analyze the document and code for patterns, themes, and
oddities.
Students will write up their findings using their discipline’s citation guidelines and adhere to the
parameters set forth by their instructors to meet the requirements for that course level.
Qualitative analysis, basic principles of coding, review of discipline's formatting and citation
guidelines.

Format Requirements:
Parameters should be discussed and agreed upon by the class and meet the writing requirements
for the designated course level and may refer to that discipline's citation formatting and
guidelines.

Assessment Criteria:
The desired final product is a report of preliminary findings and should meet the assessment
criteria agreed upon by the project participants, which should include student input.
